Number 2 song this week:
Every Time I Breathe, is truly just a continuation of what we've been about since Big Daddy Weave began. Worship is not just about a song and the time and place that we sing that song. Worship is about our entire life response to the greatness and the glory of God. As a human, I've come to the place where I don't even have to think about breathing. It just happens. Breathe in and breathe out. As a worshipper of God, that's the place that I want to learn to live. Seeing God in every moment and then responding, oh so naturally, with my life. -- Mike Weaver

Weird but true shark facts

Sharks can sense a drop of blood from 2.5 miles away. They can detect one part of blood in 100 million parts of water. Sharks are so powerful that their bite can generate a force of up to 6 tons per square inch. Sharks, in their 400 million years on earth, have shown an extraordinary ability to resist cancer and other diseases. This has raised hopes among medical researchers that the oceans' most feared predator might turn out to be the cancer patient's best friend. Investigators continue to study the immune system of sharks to see if it can provide the answer to stopping the spread of cancer in humans. Sharks can live up to 100 years. The biggest shark is the whale shark which can be up to 50 feet (15 m) long. It has approximately 300 rows of teeth, with hundreds of tiny teeth in each row. It's a filter feeder and sieves enormous amounts of plankton to eat through its gills as it swims. It is also the biggest fish in the sea. The second biggest fish and shark is the basking shark which is about 40 feet (12.3 m) long and is another filter feeder. Sharks can generate about six and a half tons per square inch of biting force. Sharks have no bones - a shark's skeleton is made up of cartilage. The biggest meat-eating shark is the Great White which grows to be up to 21 feet (6.4 m) long. The smallest sharks are the Dwarf Lanternfish (6-7 inches), Spined Pygmy Shark (7 inches) and Pygmy Ribbontail Catshark (6-7 inches). The dogfish sharks are named for their tendency to attack their prey as a pack of wild dogs would. The ostrich is often credited with laying the largest eggs, but the largest egg in the world was actually laid by a shark, the whale shark. The egg, 14 inches (36 cm) long, was found in the Gulf of Mexico in 1953. Sharks can go up to at least 6 weeks without feeding. The record for a shark fasting was observed in an aquarium with the Swell Shark, which did not eat for 15 months.

Strange but True - Volcanoes

The loudest noise ever known was produced by a volcanic eruption at Krakatoa, near Javan, in 1883. The sound was heard in Australia, 5000 km away. When Laki volcano in Iceland erupted in 1783, its lava flow stretched 65 km, the longest ever recorded. There are over 500 active volcanoes in the world. About 20 per cent of all volcanoes are underwater. About 20 to 30 volcanoes erupt each year, mostly under the sea. Lava from an erupting volcano may be as hot as 1200 degrees centigrade.

Weird Fact of the Day...
The reason firehouses have circular stairways is from the days when the engines were pulled by horses. The horses were stabled on the ground floor and figured out how to walk up straight staircases.

March 23, 2007—A tiny bird so rare and unusual that its scientific name means "strange owl" has been spotted for the first time in the wild, scientists announced yesterday.
Conservationists working in Peru got their first natural glimpse of the long-whiskered owlet last month while working in a private mountain reserve.
The species wasn't even known to exist until 1976, and since then the only known living specimens have been those caught in nets at night.
"Seeing the long-whiskered owlet is a huge thrill," said David Geale of AsociaciĆ³n Ecosistemas Andinos, who was part of the research team, in a press statement.
The American Bird Conservancy, which partnered in the research, described the sighting as "a holy grail" of bird biology.
As few as 250 of the owlets are thought to exist, scientists said, and the birds are as distinctive as they are rare.
With their diminutive size, bright orange eyes, and wild, wispy facial feathers, the dainty birds belong to their own genus, dubbed Xenoglaux, or "strange owl."
The owlets owe much of their survival to the remoteness of their dense mountain habitat, the researchers said. But as human activity encroaches on Peru's northern forests, the birds' future looks dimmer.
"Due to the rapid destruction of its forest habitat and its tiny range, it is inferred that the species is in serious decline," Geale said.
"Until recently, the owlets key habitat was completely unprotected."

Candle News of the Weird

Naturally, when the headline "Deputy Shoots Man After Getting Hit with Hot Wax" came into my email box, I was curious. O.k...I know we're not supposed to drink and drive...but burning candles while driving? Or perhaps he got his lunch to go, and was having a candle light meal in his car (those McDonald's eating areas have such harsh lighting sometimes (grin)). But to have enough melted wax to actually throw, the suspect would have had to have been burning the candle for quite some time! So, the moral of the story seems to be, if you must eat in your car, please do it by sunlight or domelight, but not candle light.

Birdbath

A birdbath is one of the easiest ways to bring birds up close, where you can get a really good look at them. You can attract even more species of birds with water than with a feeder.
Bird feeders usually cater to seed-eaters, such as cardinals, blue jays, and sparrows. Birds that eat insects or fruit, such as wrens, catbirds, and waxwings, usually don't find anything at the feeder to interest them. But the birdbath entices all kinds of birds, from robins to screech owls. It will expand your awareness of the variety of life.
A birdbath should be no deeper than three inches at the center. It should be even shallower at the edge, so that a bird can ease its way in. Cats like to lie in wait beneath shrubbery or behind a concealing object and then pounce on the birds when they're wet and can't fly well. So put your birdbath at least five to ten feet from such hiding places. Give the birds a chance to see the cat coming.
Make your birdbath easy to clean and refill. But locate your birdbath away from your feeding station, because seeds and droppings would soil the water quickly. Change the water every few days, or even every day in hot weather. Dump it out or squirt it out with the hose. I keep a scrub brush outside with my gardening tools, so that I can brush out any algae that begins to form.
